Questions

Q. Is Eidolon Haunted House wheelchair accessible?

A. Haunted House is located in a basement-level space that is accessible only by a stairwell, and unfortunately, we're not able to accommodate wheelchairs or other mobility devices inside the attraction at this time. We know that's disappointing, and we don't want anyone to feel like an afterthought — if you have concerns about your ability to attend, please reach out to us at eidolonhaunt@gmail.com before purchasing tickets so we can talk through your options, including a refund or an exchange. We're always looking for ways to make Eidolon more accessible in future seasons, and we welcome your feedback. While the haunt itself isn't wheelchair accessible, our outdoor vendor and food area is — and it has its own creepy vibe and live entertainment, so guests using a wheelchair or other mobility device are welcome to enjoy the atmosphere there even if they can't go through the attraction.

Q. Will there be free parking?

A. Yes

Q. Will you have food vendors?

A. Yes, we will have both craft and food vendors present each day.

Q. Where are you located?

A. Eidolon Haunted House is located in the basement level of MM&E Banquets & Events, 3139 W 11th Ave, Gary, Indiana 46404. Look for our dedicated guest entrance on event nights — it's separate from the venue's main upstairs entrance.

Q. How do I get there from Chicago?

A. Take I-90 E (Chicago Skyway) or I-94 E toward the Indiana state line, continuing onto I-80/94 E (the Borman Expressway). Exit toward Broadway (SR-53) or Grant Street in Gary, then head to W 11th Ave. It's roughly 30–40 minutes from downtown Chicago depending on traffic.

Q. How do I get there from the southwest Chicago suburbs (Joliet, Orland Park, Tinley Park, etc.)?

A. Take I-355 N to I-80 E, then continue on I-80/94 E into Gary. Exit toward Broadway or Grant Street and head to W 11th Ave. Expect about 45–60 minutes depending on where you're starting from.

Q. How do I get there from elsewhere in Indiana?

A. Most routes connect via I-65 N or the Indiana Toll Road (I-90) to I-80/94 (the Borman Expressway) westbound into Gary. Exit toward Broadway or Grant Street and head to W 11th Ave. Gary's street grid has a few one-way streets and frontage-road quirks — we recommend plugging our exact address into Google Maps or Apple Maps for turn-by-turn directions rather than following written directions alone.

Q. Is it scary?

A. Yes — that's the whole point. Eidolon is built to be a genuinely scary haunted experience, with intense scares, jump scares, disorienting environments, and live actors who are there to get under your skin. This isn't a watered-down, kid-friendly walk-through. If you want real scares, you're in the right place.

Q. What should I wear?

A. Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes you can move in, and clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty or brushing against fog, props, and set pieces. Avoid long necklaces, scarves, or anything dangling that could get caught. If you'll be waiting in an outdoor queue line, dress for the weather.

Q. Does Eidolon use strobe lights, fog, or low lighting?

A. Yes, all three — plus loud noises and disorienting effects throughout. Eidolon makes heavy use of fog/haze effects, strobe and flashing lights, very low lighting, sudden loud sounds, and effects designed to throw off your sense of direction, all to build an immersive scare experience. If you have epilepsy, asthma, a respiratory condition, are pregnant, or have any condition that could be affected by strobes, fog, loud noise, or extended time in the dark, please use discretion before purchasing a ticket — and feel free to email us at eidolonhaunt@gmail.com with any questions beforehand.

Q. Can I touch the actors? Will they touch me?

A. No, in both directions. Guests may not touch our actors, props, or set pieces, and our actors will not intentionally touch guests. Incidental contact can happen in tight spaces, but it's never part of the show.

Q. Will there be security?

A. Yes, security will be on site, provided by the venue, with a direct connection to the Gary Police Department. We will not tolerate fighting or threats of any kind directed at our customers, actors, or staff. If you don't follow the rules, we may have you removed from the premises at any point, with no refund.

Q. I got too scared and had to leave — can I get a refund?

A. No refunds. You paid us to scare you, and if you got too scared to finish, that means we did our job.

Q. What if I'm too scared to keep going — how do I get out?

A. Emergency exits are located throughout the attraction, and a staff member will always be available to walk you out the nearest one if you need to leave early.

Q. Will there be any other entertainment?

A. Yes! On top of the roaming creatures of the night, we'll have a local dance team and other live entertainment on site.

Q. Where can I buy tickets?

A. Tickets can be purchased online ahead of time right here on our site, or in person at the ticket booth. All major cards are accepted, as well as cash.

Q. How much are tickets?

A. General Admission is $23.50. VIP tickets are $38.50. We also offer Now Passes for $53.50, available at the ticket booth only — these get you in the door immediately with no wait at all. After you've gone through, you can buy a discounted "Go Through Again" ticket for $10 to run the haunt a second time — these must be purchased the same night as your original ticket, and you'll need to show your hand stamp at the booth as proof.

Q. Can I pay with cash?

A. Yes! Paying with cash gets you a $3.50 discount off the ticket price.

Q. Will I be searched before entering?

A. Yes. There is a security check before entering the attraction — bags and purses are subject to inspection, and guests will be wanded before entry. If there's anything you're worried about, just leave it in the car.

Q. What can't I bring inside?

A. For everyone's safety, the following are not allowed inside Eidolon: weapons of any kind (real or prop), lighters or other open flame, vapes, e-cigarettes, or other smoking devices, and drugs or drug paraphernalia of any kind. Alcohol is prohibited anywhere on the premises. This list isn't exhaustive — if you think you need to ask whether something is allowed, you probably don't need to bring it. When in doubt, leave it in the car. We want everyone to be safe and have a good time.

Q. Can I wear a costume?

A. Costumes are welcome! Masks are not permitted, so staff and security can quickly identify guests from actors at all times.

Q. Can I smoke inside?

A. No smoking is allowed inside the haunt.

  1. Guests may not touch our actors, props, or set pieces, and our actors will not intentionally touch guests. Incidental contact can happen in tight spaces, but it's never part of the show.

  2. We will not tolerate fighting or threats of any kind directed at our customers, actors, or staff. If you don't follow the rules, we may have you removed from the premises at any point, with no refund.

  4. Drugs and drug paraphernalia of any kind are strictly prohibited anywhere on the premises.

  5. No Alcohol on the premises is allowed

  6. No photos or video of any kind may be taken inside the haunt — this is standard across the industry, helps preserve the scares for other guests, and keeps things safe for our actors. Phones must stay in your pocket at all times while you're inside. Eidolon is not responsible for any phone or personal item that is lost, damaged, or stolen.
